The get Project – the best download link ever

Sharing your app is easy – you send a link to the App to the recipient and they click the link and get the App.

So what if you have multiple Apps for different platforms and you don’t know (or don’t want to go through the process of deciding each time) which platform this user is on?

Well.. you can send 3 links – one for each platform you’re on, or more recently you can use a trgt.us link. This will redirect the user to the correct page / app download depending upon the device they’re on. You’ll get statistics on who downloaded, when and on what devices.

This is better – but you loose branding for the link. Instead of mycompany.com/theApp (or perhaps store.apple.com/xyz) you have a trgt.us/XYZ link.

How about the ability to get the convenience of a trgt.us link – on your own domain.

Now you can – with the ‘get’ project. Starting in a couple of weeks (limited partners are trialling this right now) you can have all of the power of a trgt.us link – on your own domain….

e.g. get.mycompany.com will redirect the user to the correct App Store for the device they’re on!

We’ll be rolling this out over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned…

trgt.us adds statistics, previews, generally plays catch-up with bit.ly

Hey everyone,

Here at trgt.us we’re trying to do something a little different to all the other URL shortening services. That said, comparisons are easily made with bit.ly, tinyurl, is.gd etc… and in some areas around single-link URL shortening (the major use case) we don’t come off very well!

So, today we’re announcing a host of new features which make trgt.us not just the only platform aware URL shortener but also a seriously good URL shortener in general! :)

So, available immediately are stats and previews for shortlinks!

Simply add a + to the end of a URL to preview the destinations and stats. e.g. http://trgt.us/02Y+

As you can see, we show the traffic over time along with individual click counts for each link based on device. This is by no means the extent of the reporting and stats we plan to add but rather a quick addition to give users a feature they’ve been asking for.

We’ll also be opening API Access soon so if you’re interested in using trgt.us as a service then get in touch and we can hook you up!!

Thanks for all of the feedback and patience as we’ve grown,

Introducing trgt.us

Hello World

We’re trgt.us

trgt.us is the first platform aware URL shortener allowing users to create short links which redirect to different destinations based on the device that the visitor is using.

Currently this will redirect to any mobile site, but the upcoming beta (in the next few weeks) will allow users to redirect in to Apps depending on whether the app is installed; taking them to the App Store for their device if not!

trgt.us solves a problem for content-creators who would otherwise need to develop custom functionality on their own web pages and App Developers to enable a single link to direct the user to the best experience with the brand on the user’s device. It can also be used as a standard URL shortener and there are some interesting innovations around this functionality coming in the next few weeks!

We hope you like trgt.us and welcome your thoughts and feedback; drop us a line at chris@trgt.us!
